Beach Mornings and Chicken

Well, it has been an awesome week this week.  It seems like the days just fly by.  Our jobs are really easy and the weekend just comes up so fast.  This week we tried two new beaches.  That means we have now visited a whole three of the more than twenty popular beaches on the island.  Oh well, we have plenty more summer mornings to take some quick visits to many beaches.

On Wednesday morning, we visited E-ho beach.  This beach is probably like 5 kilometers from our apartment and only took us like an hour on the bus and then a few minute taxi ride after missing our stop (yes I realize we could have walked there in that amount of time).  This is the closest beach to the city and gets a lot of visitors.  We happened to be there with another load of tourists from China who again loved snapping pictures of Cliff.  But we did get there early enough to have the beach almost completely to ourselves for awhile in the morning.  This was a nice beach with good facilities (even has a salt water pool set up on the shore for people who don't want their children to swim in the ocean for some reason).  It did have a kind of city feel to it though so it wasn't our favorite.
Here are some pictures of E-Ho beach.

Then today, Friday, we spent the morning at Hyeopje beach.  It is a beautiful white sand beach with an island right off the coast and black lava rock around the edges of the beach.  This was probably our favorite so far.  It has a great view and the clearest water that we have seen yet.  The only downside was that this beach was even more overrun with rental umbrellas up and down the shore and the really old lady working there was very persistent.  When we got there in the morning there was literally no one but somewhere in between we went for a swim and laid out on our towels with our eyes closed and when we opened them realized the beach was suddenly quite busy.
Here is Hyeopje Beach photos.

Tonight we enjoyed one of my all time favorite korean foods: flavored chicken delivered to your apartment.  We tried to get it the other night but the guy said they were too busy so we went tonight and they weren't too busy and delivered. So good.

All in all, we are having a great time.  The students are good and pretty funny.  Today I started teaching my middle school class for the first time because they have had testing since we got here.  It was hilarious.  They kept speaking Korean and we have a no Korean rule so rather than speak Korean back, I just respond in English to their questions or comments which made them realize I understood everything they were saying.  Then they asked me if my mom or my dad is Korean.  I pointed out to them that I have blonde hair but they were not convinced and proceeded to tell me a story about a black girl at their school whose mom is Korean.  Then they were shocked that I understood their story in Korean.  They are still convinced that I have a secret Korean life.  Too funny.

Well, that is all for now... I am sure Cliff will jump right on an update after our adventures tomorrow.
